Salzburg is well known for its Christmas markets. Its weekly markets around the year are, however, in no way inferior to them and less touristy. Make sure to visit at least one of them during your stay to get a unique taste of Salzburg’s regional products. These are Salzburg’s most famous markets
Loved by locals and tourists equally, the Schrannenmarkt offers a wide range of regional fruits, vegetables, meat and cheese at a fair price. Depending on the season, different kinds of plants and herbs can be purchased and in winter Advent wreaths are obtainable.

The Grünmarkt does not only offer agricultural specialities but also souvenirs from the region. Located right in the pedestrian area, the market is easily accessible and should be part of every tour through the old town of Salzburg.
Special tip: Try the “Baumstriezel”, a pastry with cinnamon and sugar originally from Hungry. People with a sweet tooth won’t be disappointed!
